CF Ready
Shopify app for the Italian checkout

No more orders to invoice without a Codice Fiscale.

CF Ready makes the Italian tax code required in the field Shopify already shows at the Italian checkout, and checks its shape before the order closes.

Nothing to touch in your theme, no extra boxes for your customer. You install it, decide what to ask for, and from then on it works on its own.

How it works

Fourteen days to try it. You don’t give us your card: payment goes through Shopify, and you approve the charge.

CF CODICE FISCALE RSSMRA85T10A562S Formally valid

It’s Shopify’s own field. The one the Italian checkout already shows, not one we bolted on.

Your theme stays as it is. No code to paste, no extension to install.

Your plan is fine. You need Shopify, not Shopify Plus.

The problem

The order arrived, the invoice didn’t

If you invoice private customers too, you need their tax code. Shopify does have a box for it in the Italian checkout, but out of the box it’s optional: the customer skips it, or types in something that isn’t a tax code at all. You notice the next day, with the order already closed, and now you have to email them and hope they reply.

People who hit this usually try one of two things: add a field to the theme, or repurpose the checkout’s “Internal” field. The first leaves changes in your theme that somebody will have to maintain. The second shows your customer two boxes for the same thing.

How it works

Three steps, then you forget about it

  1. Install it

From the Shopify App Store. The app looks at your store address and works out on its own whether you’re in Italy. It doesn’t ask to read orders, customers or products, because it doesn’t need them.

  2. Decide what to ask for

The tax code and the PEC address are set separately: you can ignore one, make it optional, or make it required. A four-step setup walks you through to switching it on.

  3. Switch it on

From then on Shopify runs the check at every Italian checkout. Nothing to deploy, nothing to touch in the store.

What the customer sees

A message you wrote

If a value doesn’t work, your customer reads your sentence, in the right place in the checkout. No technical errors, no codes. You edit the texts yourself, in Italian and English, and you also choose when the warning shows up: only when they confirm the order, or already while they’re typing.

The sketch alongside shows how it behaves. It isn’t a reproduction of Shopify’s checkout.

What it checks

Counting characters isn’t enough

CF Ready rebuilds the code the way the official rule builds it, and catches the cases that quick checks get wrong.

Standard code

Sixteen characters: the letters from surname and first name, the date of birth, the gender marker, the town code and the final check character.

Omocodia

When two people would end up with the same code, some digits become letters. Those codes are valid, and they’re accepted.

Provisional code

Eleven digits, the form used by people who don’t have a standard tax code yet.

Dates that don’t exist

31 April and 30 February are turned away even when everything else in the code looks right.

PEC address

We check the address is written in a valid shape, subdomains included.

Three modes, per field

Ignored, optional (blank is fine, wrong isn’t) or required. The two choices don’t affect each other.

Edge cases

Whoever shouldn’t be blocked, isn’t

This is where a useful check parts ways with one that costs you orders.

  • Order heading abroad: no check.
  • Foreign billing details, even if you deliver or hand over in Italy: no check.
  • Store pickup and mixed orders: checked if at least one delivery is Italian.
  • Accelerated checkouts, and anywhere Shopify doesn’t show the fields: no errors.
  • Unreadable configuration or a technical fault: the checkout stays open.
  • Trial over or plan inactive: the checkout stays open.

When in doubt, the app lets it through. A lost sale costs more than an invoice you fix by hand, and we decided that up front, not as a fallback.

Limits

What CF Ready doesn’t do

They sit here in the middle, with the same room as everything else, because you’re better off knowing before you install.

It doesn’t check the registry

We check how the code is written, not who it belongs to. We don’t ask the Italian Revenue Agency, and an address written correctly isn’t necessarily a PEC mailbox that actually works.

It doesn’t decide for you

Whether and when you must collect the tax code is between you and your accountant. The app doesn’t decide it and doesn’t replace professional advice.

No electronic invoicing

We don’t issue invoices, don’t send them to the Italian exchange system and don’t store them. VAT numbers and SDI codes aren’t handled.

Subscriptions and POS

The check works at checkout. Automatic subscription renewals happen later, and it doesn’t reach them. In POS it doesn’t step in.

Data

What your customers type stays in Shopify

The check happens inside Shopify, while the customer is at the till. Tax codes and PEC addresses never reach our servers, never end up in a log and don’t stick around anywhere: the app receives the value, looks at it, and answers only if something is wrong.

We know nothing about your orders, customers, products or stock, and the permissions we ask Shopify for stop at what the app needs to run. It’s written out in full in the Privacy Policy.

Trial and price

Fourteen days to make up your mind

The trial runs two weeks, it’s the full app, and it doesn’t cost a thing. At the end you pick how to pay: every month, once a year, or once and for all for this store.

What changes is when you pay, not what you get: no order limits, no features held back for whoever spends more. The current price is on the App Store and inside the app when you choose, and the charge always lands on your Shopify invoice.

Questions

Before you install

Do I have to touch my theme?

No, and neither do we. CF Ready works on the field the Italian checkout already has, through Shopify’s own validation mechanism. If you uninstall one day, nothing is left behind in your theme.

Does it work with my Shopify plan?

On the regular plans, yes, and Plus isn’t needed. What matters is that the store address is in Italy: that’s what decides whether the tax fields show up in the checkout at all.

Could it block good orders?

It’s the thing we thought about most. It leaves foreign orders alone, says nothing where Shopify doesn’t show the fields, and any technical hiccup leaves the checkout open. If you want to ease into it, start with the fields optional: it flags people who type it wrong and lets through people who leave it blank.

Is the tax code really verified?

How it’s written is verified, not who it belongs to. The code has to be properly built, and on that we don’t bend. Whether it really is that customer’s code, we can’t know: no checkout app can.

What if I stop paying?

The checkout goes back to how it was and no order gets stopped. Your rules and messages stay where you left them, so if you switch it back on there’s nothing to redo.

Who answers if something goes wrong?

The person who wrote the app, in person. No call centre, no bot: it’s all on the support page.

Try it on your store

Two full weeks, a few minutes to set up, and nothing to undo in your theme if you change your mind.
